About this role

This position demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills for performing diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations and cardiology procedures. The role provides data for diagnosis of disease and injuries in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and licensing requirements. The position demonstrates focused critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and an outcome-oriented approach to care. Position Duties - Performs diagnostic cardiac sonography examinations on patients across the spectrum of congenital and acquired heart disease for interpretation by cardiologist. - Determines proper technique and positioning to ensure optimal results in accordance with all applicable standards, protocols and procedures. - Performs or assists with pediatric and/or adult congenital cardiac sonography exams and procedures as well as demonstrates advanced knowledge and skills as required and per training and expertise. - Must regularly demonstrate mastery and understanding of complex pediatric congenital echo and be willing and able to teach others (fellows, peers, etc) as opportunity allows. - Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, and coworkers while performing all activities of the job. - Creates a detailed report of sonographer's impressions to include pertinent medical history, anatomic findings and measurements for presentation to interpreting physician. - Continues to pursue knowledge and self-improvement by remaining apprised of current literature, practices, and new developments in the field. - Participates in cleaning, re-stocking, re-supplying, and turnover of cardiodiagnostic exam rooms and equipment to provide for efficient, effective, and safe department operations. Qualifications - Graduation from a CAAHEP or ACCSC accredited cardiac sonography program or equivalent or 10 years experience in cardiac ultrasound. - 6 years full time pediatric cardiac sonography. - ARDMS RDCS-Pediatric (RDCS PE) or CCI Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS). - Current BLS for Healthcare Providers through the American Heart Association. - Demonstrates a willingness to be flexible with work assignments to balance work amongst staff.
